Les Mouchoirs de Poche

Gustave Demoen brings together 33 artists who are all hand­kerchief devotees. He invites them to each interpret the handkerchief in their own personal way and presents the results in a scenography by architect Joris Kerremans.

Opening on Friday December 1, 2023 at 6 p.m.
Performances at 7 and 9 p.m. by Duo Naan: accordionist/composer Suzan Peeters and flutist Nathalie Van Meirvenne will work together to compose a piece inspired by the air articulation of blowing into a handkerchief.
Different readings over the course of the evening by Sneeze Ensemble: musician and visual artist Lukas De Clerck recites the Sneeze Ensemble's manifesto.

On the occasion of the exhibition, Posture Editions brings out Posture Pockets N° 4: ‘Great Noses Are Blown Alike’ — Zakdoekenpocket — Les Mouchoirs de Poche’.

The exhibition and publication were made possible with the support of the city of Ghent, Culture Ghent, Posture Editions, and Duvel Moortgat.

After its presentation at Convent, the entire exhibition will move to the city’s Museum of Industry, where it will be on display from January 17 to February 14, 2024.

Les Mouchoirs de Poche

Gustave Demoen brengt 33 kunstenaars samen die allen gesteld zijn op hun stoffen zakdoek. Hij nodigt hen uit om elk op hun eigen manier de zakdoek te interpreteren en presenteert de resultaten in een scenografie van architect Joris Kerremans.

Performances om 19u en 21u door Duo Naan: accordeonist/componist Suzan Peeters en fluitist Nathalie Van Meirvenne componeren samen een stuk dat geïnspireerd is op de luchtarticulatie van het snuiten in een zakdoek.
Verschillende lezingen in de loop van de avond door Sneeze Ensemble: muzikant en beeldend kunstenaar Lukas De Clerck draagt het manifest van Sneeze Ensemble voor.
